Results From Saturday, January 22, 2011

The Neenah Chess Team traveled to Waupaca on Saturday to complete the first half of their NEWCA season.  The Varsity Red team ended its run of undefeated matches and fell into second place with a loss against rival Marion in the first round.  Red bounced back from the loss by easily dispatching the next three opponents, capturing 117 of 120 points in the remaining three rounds.  The loss to Marion sets up a showdown in the final meet on February 19th, when the two teams will meet in a match that will likely determine the regular season champion.

Meanwhile, the Varsity White team continued its strong season by going undefeated for the day, maintaining a firm grip on third place in the standings.

Neenah's JV team, shorthanded, fell to third place behind Green Bay Catholic by the slightest of margins.  Marion extended its considerable lead and remains firmly entrenched in first.
